Welcome to the Islamic Republic of France

The French have surrendered, but they don’t know it. They didn’t even know they were at war – and that’s just the way their enemy wanted it.

French President Sarkozy raised the oft-used French surrender flag with the words, “We must invest in the Arabic language [because] to teach it symbolizes a moment of exchange, of openness and of tolerance, [and it] brings with it one of the oldest and most prestigious civilizations of the world.” President Sarkozy added that France is home to the largest number of Arabic and Muslim immigrants in the world and Islam is the second largest religion in France.

In 1994 the French Parliament enacted the Toubon Law, which mandated the use of the French language in all government communications, commerce, and the workplace. Government-funded schools that did not teach all classes in French would be ineligible for government funding. The law was a reaction to the tidal wave of Hollywood-produced movies and television shows that were flooding France and introducing into French culture not just English, but bad English. But now, the French government figures that welcoming the West-hating culture of Islam will somehow benefit French culture. What a sickening difference a scant fourteen years makes.

Once the new French policy takes effect, it won’t be long before imams and mullahs demand that all signs of Christianity be removed from public display, even as mosques with high crescent-topped minarets blare out the daily calls to prayer. Those two French icons, food and fashion, will come under the Sharia scrutiny of newly-empowered Muslim overseers. In short, President Sarkozy has pulled the life support from France, and all that remains is for the rest of us to watch that country die like Terri Shiavo.

The French may view Mr. Sarkozy’s pronouncement as proof of their open-mindedness and tolerance. But the conquerors see it as a new chapter for France, a chapter that will end when every citizen of the Islamic Republic of France says in perfect Arabic, “There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet.”
