Lovely to hear from you! Thanks for suggesting Bartleby and Gutenberg, both are excellent resources. I haven’t seen the Encyclopedia you list before, but will certainly check it out.
The more resources we share, the better we can teach our children without going into horrible debt to purchase curriculum. Isn’t the internet wonderful?
Feel free to contribute more wonderful information, we’re glad you are here.
Hmmm...I am surprised that PM doesn’t work for me. You are the second person I have heard from today who’s tried to PM me and it didn’t work.
I figured Faust was Faust was Faust in all three locations, and we’re very pleased to have you visit here. I am glad you enjoy what I write; with God’s merciful blessing, there will be more to enjoy.
I will contact John, the site admin, and see what’s up with my PM. From the settings I just checked out, y’all should be able to PM me with no problems. But technology is wonderful when it works…

Another free resource for students (or adults) who wish to do Photoshop-like graphics (although it’s not as intuitive as Photoshop, and does not do 3-d), is The Gimp.
“GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.”
IrfanView is very useful for working with graphics.
IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista.
It is trying to be simple for beginners and powerful for professionals.
IrfanView is trying to create new and/or interesting features in its own way, unlike some other graphic viewers, whose whole “creativity” is based on feature cloning, stealing of ideas and whole dialogs from ACDSee and/or IrfanView! (for example: XnView has been stealing/cloning features and whole dialogs from IrfanView, for 7+ years).
IrfanView was the first Windows graphic viewer WORLDWIDE with Multiple (animated) GIF support.
One of the first graphic viewers WORLDWIDE with Multipage TIF support.
The first graphic viewer WORLDWIDE with Multiple ICO support.
It is a very nice program. Well, I am still running “Windoze” 2000, and do not plan on buying a new version. I may go to some form of Unix or maybe the Macintosh(which is now just another form of Unix).
You have some very good links here. Please consider writing an article on homeschooling for majorityrights.com. It would be nice to collaborate on the development of a flexible (secular and Christian) curriculum for our microcommunities. If you are interested, let me know.
I appreciate the compliment about our content here; we’re trying to build a comprehensive reference of homeschooling resources for those of us who care to pull our children out of the line of fire, so to speak.
Let me think about what you’ve said. Right now would not be a good time for any of it; spring is always the busiest time for teachers. But I will PM or email you after I get a chance to think some.
While written for parents whose children attend outside school, the assessments in this book can help homeschoolers to understand their child’s “learning style"--his or her disposition, talents, interests, modality, and environment--better. Understanding the unique qualities of our children can only help in our efforts to homeschool them.

Here is a quote from a homeschooler’s Amazon review of the book.
I homeschool my children and found myself frequently frustrated because I felt I was not relating to them. I figured a difference in our dispositions and styles lay at the root of the problem, but I didn’t know what to do about it until I read this book and had everyone in our family complete the Learning Style Profile Assessment. This tool is very easy to complete and it truly shows you how each person is a unique individual! I had read other books on learning styles, but this one is by far the most thorough and practical.
I’ve seen a lot of books which oversimplify the process of determining a child’s learning preferences; this one is more complete than most, and while it does not approach the subject from a Christian perspective, it has proven helpful to me as a classroom teacher more than once.
If you are of the Southron persuasion, you probably know that April is the month that both started and ended the War Between the States, and is typically called Confederate Heritage Month.
Here are some resources you may find useful when teaching your children about Confederate Heritage.
