Oprah Winfrey’s new TV channel fails to win viewers

Oprah Winfrey’s new television channel is floundering in the ratings as it struggles to pull in viewers. The OWN channel, which launched two months ago, is being watched by only 135,000 people at any one time. The ratings are 10 per cent lower than for the cable channel it replaced which was called Discovery Health….

I wonder if it wouldn’t do better to call it a female network rather than “OWN”, even if those are her initials. It seems greedy, vain, and condescending to call it OWN.

I don’t mean to offer constructive crticism, doubt this’ll get back to her…; but a title like “OWN” deserves to be mocked.

There are other female channels, but such is the desired target audience; and plenty of females do watch a lot of TV, supposedly.
