Laurel,

I am not sure about many of the colleges on this list.  I have heard some rather nasty stories about many of the Midwestern State Universities; specifically Iowa and Ohio. I had the impression the University of Wisconsin, Madison was pretty left-wing. And St. Olaf is affiliated with ELCA.  I am glad I lived at home during the year I spent at a State University, I heard some horror stories from the students who lived on campus and the content of the student newspaper was rather disturbing too…

From the article above:

Please note that I am not necessarily endorsing any of these institutions listed below. This is simply a set of statistics for your information. No ranking system is going to be perfect or suitable for everybody, and perhaps your favorite school is ranked just a few slots below these.

Practically any college today is going to have a hotbed of liberal activism around campus. College education in America has many problems, but it’s the system we have. Hopefully by scanning the list of schools below you can get a sense for what kind of good colleges are out there. So here it goes!

He’s just basing his rankings on SAT scores and percentages of Whites; obviously there will be more things to take into account than those two parameters. Still, this is a good beginning.

William Scott,

Yes Grove City College was on “The Best Colleges for Whites” list Laurel posted. Oddly Grove City College is associated with PCUSA, but officially non-denominational.

It sounds like a decent option, then, for a young, conservative, Reformed student.

Thanks for bringing it up, Wm. Scott!

Laurel,

Both FrSam and John Marshall have spoken positivity about Grove City College on this forum. I am still a bit unsure about the whole “going away to college” thing from a traditionalist perspective; part of me would be happier seeing children live with their parent till marriage. But I went to one of the most notorious state universities in the US, so maybe I am a bit too cynical about college.

There are just a very few colleges that I can really recommend these days. One of the best in the nation, in my opinion, is Grove City College in Grove City, PA. There is also a good one somewhere in Michigan, Hillsborough College, perhaps it was? I’d consider Messiah College in Grantham, PA also as a possibility.

It’ll be Patrick Henry, Geneva, Hillsdale, or Grove City, most likely, if that is their leaning. Maybe Sewanee, though I think it may be too late for the University of the South.
