With a history dating back to the time of the Norman conquest, spectacular views over the Trent, 17 bedrooms, a private gym and its own cinema, Clifton Hall appeared to have everything for the discerning millionaire purchaser.
But for Anwar Rashid and his family, the Nottinghamshire pile went from home of their dreams to a house of nightmares as they came to believe it was haunted. After eight months of being plagued by unexplained screams in the long corridors, chilling ghostly visitations and mysterious blood spots, they began to fear they had strayed into a real life version of The Others, a horror film starring Nicole Kidman, released in 2001.
Sometimes it seems like the ghosts have more “spirit” than the living Brits…
I cannot say that story displeases me at all. It is entirely appropriate, and may there be many, many more just like it.
The muzlim invaders should return to their native sand piles and leave our lands in peace. In the same fashion, the mestizo invaders should go back to their own
country and develop it, leaving us alone to live in peace. Invaders are never present by right, and whether they come by force or by money, they are always
unwelcome.
Probably the man was haunted by demons himself. Or an angel drives him out but all the same I think it probably had more to do with HIM than the house. These types are rather supersitious to say the least. I can’t help but chuckle at their insanities.
WR, you are probably quite right, but I think it is useful for him to think it is the house, the rocks, the river, the land, whatever, just so that he knows that he and his kind are most royally unwelcome and will be so eternally. If he thinks it is inherent in the place, then he is more likely to stay away than if he thinks it is himself for which he might just seek to be cured. So….stoke his demons!

Yup, I’ve read Arthur Machen. The places where we have communion and delight and adventure should be a horror and a curse to our enemies; that they would never dwell comfortably within them.
There is a reason why Edom was put in the wilderness beneath mt. Seir. I would not have the places where I danced and hunted and worshipped as a child be defiled by them.
Also America, Britain, Germania etc. which Christ cultivated and where He settled our folk is not ours to give away to the heathen at will. It was made for us and our children to enjoy not to give away.
