UT and Texas going down the tubes…

UT-Austin going down the tubes

University of Texas trails state demographics with minority, low-income students

Last year, UT announced that it would no longer participate in the National Merit Scholarship program, which often helps students from more affluent families, so it could contribute more funds to need-based aid.

Comments:
When I was in high school, everyone regardless of economic and race status was eligible if they did the work. This is so much BS.Giveaways for those who believe they are entitled instead of doing the work. Equal opportunity is a joke.

Sadly, I know a UT-Austin political science professor who retire early last year simply to object to and revolt again what she called “grade pressure”. The is the leverage that the administration has to force professors to pass and graduate certain students, Hispanic students, specifically (this professor is Hispanic, btw). How f’d is that. A supposedly world class university that has bowed to political pressure and lowered its academic standards to “spread the wealth” to kids who are either not qualified or are not motivated to pass the once rigorous standards of UT-Austin. You have to ask yourself where the hell UT-Austin is headed academically. In US News and World Report UT-Austin ranked 51st last year. That’s a clean 25 spots below where it ranked 15 years ago. Sad. But true. The entitlement crowd will ruin us all. Throw them out!!!

I keep working, paying my taxes, saving and making contributions to my son’s 529 plan and trust me I am not wealthy. Maybe someday in 15 years I will be able save enough to send my son to UT. While I busted my sorry white rear end and sacrificed so he can get ahead some other minority kid will get a free ride subsidized by my hard earned dollars because his demographic represents the population the university serves? This is another example of why this nation has lost its competitive edge.

Texas public school enrollment…

In Texas, Hispanics are 48% of public school enrollment, followed by whites at 34%, blacks at 14%, and Asians at 4%. Nearly 17 percent of all students have limited English-speaking skills. Down at the kindergarten and first grade levels, it’s much worse. Whites aged 5 and 6 are less than 20% of enrollment. We’ve been told that it’s racist to desire more whites and fewer non-whites. At what point does it become okay, when whites reach 0% of the population? Is nothing short of total genocide acceptable?1

In 1850 the state of Texas was less than 2% “Hispanic.” And there were more German speakers than Spanish speakers, I think by a factor of five or ten, I don’t remember the number offhand.
