Majority Rights has an interesting article for the machinist-minded among us.

http://majorityrights.com/index.php/weblog/comments/an_alternate_production_resource/

With the Multimachine an independent-minded DIY engineer can:-

  1. Build and repair water and irrigation pumps and farm implements.

  2. Build steel-rolling and steel-bending machines for making fuel-efficient cook stoves and hundreds of other products.

  3. Rebuild vehicle parts.

  4. Providing “hands on metalwork training on student-built MultiMachines that they take with them when they leave school.

Obviously, this is not for me. However, some men might find it of interest.

God bless,
Laurel

For those among us who really do want to “build it themselves”; or for preparations to have to do it ourselves in the event of a major societal breakdown.

Laurel,

That homemade Multimachine is a clever and creative use of scrap, but with factory made machine tools selling at the prices they are right now due to Chinese dumping I am not sure how cost effective building such a thing would be. That homemade machine looks like it has a few hundred dollars worth of machine parts needed to build it. It is still an area one should study. An example of cheap mill/lathe Multimachine.

Boy, I didn’t how there were so many people who were interested in casting metal…
