BERLIN – A bird-bone flute unearthed in a German cave was carved some 35,000 years ago and is the oldest handcrafted musical instrument yet discovered, archaeologists say, offering the latest evidence that early modern humans in Europe had established a complex and creative culture.

...a 8.6-inch (22-centimeter) instrument with five holes and a notched end. Conard said the flute was 35,000 years old…

Not to be difficult, D., since I respect you… and allowing that I really have no dog in this fight, since I don’t believe that the authority of scripture or its inerrancy hang on this issue, like Ken Ham and others do…

Could a YEC please give me a plausible reason why we should doubt the commonly accepted dating methods for human archeological finds? Not the stratigraphy, because I’m familiar with those arguments. I mean the radiocarbon, potassium-argon, Accelerator Mass Spectrometry. I am aware that Earth age was adjusted to fit the cosmic model, and other dating scandals. However, this does not explain why radioisotopic and other dating methods for human organic artifacts and humanoid remains are unreliable. If you could give us a concise overview, that perhaps would help those who have difficulty with the YEC position due to artifact and fossil dating.

There’s the question of stellar distances which is also a major obstacle, some say, but I don’t see it as relevant here.

This is extremely half hearted because I don’t feel like doing anything right now.

Firstly, I believe it is a Scriptural issue so that puts me in the Ken Ham camp in that narrow regard. I do believe inerrancy rests on the issue.

Secondly, I pretty much agree with this guy about evolution. Here is a page on dating that addresses only a couple of your concerns. I don’t read Nature so I’m not expert, but he is my authority.
