Hi Everyone,

We have a new policy we’d like board participants to follow regarding the inclusion of website links as a raw URL. We are trying to re-design the site to place excerpts of your thoughtful posts on the front page of the website. The issue is that when the first 200 characters of your post contain a raw URL, such as

http://www.kinism.net/index.php

the rendering engine will not break that URL up, to keep it continuous. But with the longer URLs this pushes the columns wider than we can handle on the front page, using relative column widths. So, in the future, we’d like you to wrap your URLs in the standard link tag. Please use the following form:

<a href="http://www.somewebsite.com/">Description of Link</a

Another option is to use the

[code]

tags located on the topic or reply editing toolbar to wrap the URL. Just highlight the URL in your post and click the CODE button on the toolbar. This will place CODE tags around the URL automatically, and the rendering engine will be able to apply line breaks to them in the normal fashion.

This will help us implement a great new feature on the front page, but keep the look and feel of the site consistent. Until we can get uniform compliance with this policy, we’ll only provide forum topic titles on the front page. So please, no URLs in topic titles.

Thanks,
John Marshall
