I found it really interesting that there was a substantial difference between the ESV version of Genesis 2:18&#45;24 and the Young&#8217;s Literal Translation (Frank, you were interested in literal translations, and here&#8217;s a good example of the difference). I will highlight differences I think are significant to interpretation&#8230;

In this verse it would seem that the consequences of abandoning the Lord are that curses will come on the man who does it, his land will be destroyed, and his people will be cast out into another land.

It has three words for enemy: polemios (a foreign enemy), agonistes (a competitor or rival), and echthros (a private enemy; literally, one whom you hate). When Christ commands Christians to “love their enemies” (Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:27,35), he uses the word for one’s private enemy, that is to say someone with whom a Christian has quarreled. Never is this injunction applied to foreign enemies, the enemies of one’s people.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;
